There are great books, then there are good books and then there are the decent books. Piano is fun; by Anthony Fernando is one such decent book on learning the piano. What makes the book good and bad at the same time is that the author has not tried anything different. It is the plain old piano lessons, delivered in the plain old simple teaching ways. It is , at best, a decent resource if you have to learn the piano.
The better part of the book is that it is easy to comprehend and is free from all technical piano jargon. You have a choice of listening to the piano lessons online. This makes good sense as those with slow speeds can also hear the lessons online and thus do not have to wait for ages for the sound files to download. The USP of the product is that there is a game provided with the book which helps in learning the piano the fun way. The author is a professional software developer and hence the game is the best in its class. Also, the game is the best way to learn clefs. If you are a music teacher, you can easily follow the game and use it to good effect when teaching a class of young learners. The product specially seems to be made for teachers as it has specific provisions for keeping a track of the progress of the young learners.
There are however a few glitches with the book and the software. The book, though very good, is aimed to wards the teachers more than towards the self learners. The software in its turn is not Mac compatible. Also the e book is not an exceptionally great product when compared to the price charged. All in all, a good product but could have been better.
